History of M-CTRAS
The M-CTRAS (Mathematics Classroom Teaching Research for All Students) was first proposed by Dr. Shuhua An and initiated during the U.S.-Sino Workshop in June 2008. Originally named the Classroom Teaching for All Students Research (CTRAS) Working Group, it included the following 11 universities: six from the U.S. and five from China:
U.S. – California State University, Long Beach, Grand Valley State University, Louisiana University, Montclair University, Indiana University, and National University.
China – Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Hang Zhou Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, and Tianjing Normal University
M-CTRAS highlights
The M-CTRAS (Mathematics Classroom Teaching Research for All Students) is an inclusive and collaborative community dedicated to research and practice in mathematics education, Comprising mathematics educators, graduate students, and K-12 classroom teachers, our mission is to advance knowledge through high quality research in mathematics education and its interdisciplinary fields. We are committed to:
Diverse Community
We unite mathematics educators, graduate students, and K-12 classroom teachers in a shared pursuit of excellence in mathematics education.
High-Quality Research
Our core is advancing knowledge through rigorous research. We delve into the complexities of mathematics education and its related interdisciplinary fields, striving for groundbreaking findings.
Teacher Engagement
Central to our mission is engaging teachers in continuous learning and teaching. We emphasize the implementation of new, research-based strategies, particularly aimed at supporting struggling students in their mathematical journey.
Practical Application
Our goal is to inform and transform practice. We advocate for effective and innovative pedagogies that make a real difference in the classroom.
Technology Integration
